*Crap – defined – there are many definitions of what crap is; vulgar slang – something which is of poor quality, nonsense, rubbish or excrement.
The definition of Crap for this festival is the following; What could be one mans garbage is another mans treasure; What might not meet the standards of some meets the standards of others; What might not work in some ways works in others.

4.30am tuesday the 21st of september, we left melbourne for a two day journey to Brisbane, to hold the 1st installment of our touring Short Crap Film Festival. It was the first time we had ever taken the festival on the road and away from it's home in brisbane. In the previous years, we had held it only in brisbane, this year was the first for many things.

23rd Septemer, we open the doors to the festival once again at the Zoo in brisbane's fortitude valley. In the past, Brisbane has been an amazing experience, and tonight was no different. For this was much more of a show then ever before, and the crowd seemed pleasantly suprised by the range of short films on offer and the specialty of musical acts.

24th September, night, we depart Brisbane, after picking up another player in the tour, Ben Toliday. The van had to be re-arranged, and we drove through the night, with a breakfast stop over in Newcastle! Yay! By this point, we are all sick of each other but excited at the fact that we were closer to the Sydney festival then ever before.

26th September, sunday night, we open the doors of The Short Crap Film Festival for the first time to a wonderfully receptive and enthusiastic audience in Sydney at the old Newtown RSL. After a number of scary sound mishaps, the show began, and we would like to think we possibly wowed a sydney audience and educated them in crap short films! The night ended on a seriously high note with CODA playing and the audience voting their sydney vote to the film "ZZZZ", with the filmmakers present, it made the entire evening a buzz.

27th September, 4.30am, we leave the regents court in kings cross and head back home to melbourne to hold our final short crap film festival in the tour. At this point, we are slightly bent from all the driving, a little insane and very spacey. However, this just made the drive somewhat a little more interesting, especially when it came to pumping air in the tyres, this should be simple yes?

28th September, 8pm, we open the doors of the Short Crap Film Festival for the first time to a very enthusiastic crowd of melbournians. For it being a fringe festival event we were suprised at the diverse range of people in the crowd, fringe seems to attract all kinds, and it was great!

11pm, we announce the winner of the Melbourne Vote, "Annabelle Arbuckle Down Under" plus we tally up all the votes taken and award the international experiment award, "Le Jeu D'Amour" and after tallying up all of the votes taken over the entire tour we award the overall winner prize to "AFTER DOLLY" a well deserving recipient for the first ever toured Short Crap Film Festival!

2am, we arrive back at the Fully Flared Head quatres, a short crap party ensued, but I went straight for the valuim and bed!

Afterwards, we had four nights of screening all of the entries entered into the festival at the Glitch Bar & Cinema in North Fitzroy, On Monday the 11th of October, we showed the finalists again, to a wonderfully enthusiastic audience, who all applauded like crazy when it was all over. I can personally say, they enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to them and to everyone who came along to the festival in each city!

This was an insane experiment but we would have done it no differently!

If you would like to see these films again, please feel free to email shortcrap@fullyflared.com

Many thanks for taking the time to read this! Stay tuned for more Short Film Stuff soon!
